dc.description.abstract This work is a follow-up of studies conducted at the “Laboratoire de Valorisation des Matériaux” on water treatment and aims to develop lignocellulosic-based adsorbent through chemical functionalization for the removal of organic pollutants from water. In order to improve the sorption of acid dyes, quaternary ammonium functional groups were incorporated into the structure of the pretreated wood sawdust by grafting of choline groups. The experimental data obtained from the dye removal study demonstrated that the lignocellulosic material has excellent properties for the sorption of the studied pollutants. The second part of this work reports the synthesis of a hyperbranched polymer by means of a polycondensation of multifunctional monomers followed by permethylation. Like its lignocellulosic homolog, the as-prepared material proved to be very effective in removing organic dyes from aqueous solutions. In addition, the hyperbranched polymer presents several advantages such as straightforward preparation and exceptional sorption efficiency. en_US
