Abstract

The main objectives of this research are: (i) to study the role of knowledge bases in decision-making tasks and error detection using the technique of repetition priming (Experiment 1 and 2), (ii) and to evaluate the effect of practice and expertise to a cognitive domain in another domain by using the error detection task (Experiment 2). Regarding the first objective, Experiments 1 and 2 have emphasized the effect of practice and expertise in the activation of knowledge bases, their wealth and structuring on the one hand, and the place of skillful memory across, on the other hand, tasks in decision making and error detection by experts in response time and relevant answers higher than those of novices. Overall, all these results show that in indirect tests of implicit memory, through decision-making tasks and error detection associated with the technique of repetition priming, the experts not only use their rich and specific knowledge base and but involve their skillful memory in these decision tasks, allowing them to solve the problem faced with appropriateness and quickness.
