dc.description.abstract This study examines the inhibitory effect of different extracts of three medicinal plants: Aloe vera, Allium sativum and Lawsonia inermis against four clinical isolates and a reference strain of P. aeruginosa. The MIC and MBC were determined for the extracts showing an antibacterial effect. A combination test was conducted to evaluate the interaction of extracts with gentamicin. Also, the effect of extracts and salicylic acid on the development of biofilm in P. aeruginosa was tested by crystal violet analysis. The results show a significant antibacterial activity against five isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This effect was obtained with the crude extract of Allium sativum and the methanol extract of Lawsonia inermis. The association between plant extracts and gentamicin showed a positive effect with the extract of L. inermis whose zone of inhibition increased with in port areas obtained by gentamicin alone. The use of the crude extract of garlic and the methanol extract of henna and salicylic acid indicates an inhibitory effect on the amount of biofilm formed by P. aeruginosa on glass slides en_US
