The composites materials are widely used in various industrial sectors. These new materials are lightweight compared to conventional materials, and good mechanical properties. During services, theses materials are exposed to different impacts inducing internal damages decreasing the resistance of the composite element.
On the basis on the numerical simulation, it is possible to predict the behavior of composite structures exposed to low velocity impact loading. The commercial finite element package LS DYNA was used in order to simulate the impact behavior. Many numerical examples were treated taking account the effect of impact speed, the geometrical impactor, the boundary conditions and the stacking sequence of the laminate. The obtained results were compared to those of bibliography. |
