dc.description.abstract The contribution to the study of the teleostean fish, the Boops boops (Linné, 1758) in the western region of the Algerian basin is based on data collected during the oceanographic campaign Thalassa (1982) for the study of its behavior, as well as on a monthly sampling during the months of April, May and June 2020, in the region of Mostaganem for the study of growth. The bug is a semi-pelagic fish frequenting any type of bottom from 0 to 400 m, of which it frequents a poorly diversified population dominated by a restricted group of species in the western region. However, this stand shows a tendency towards balance and homogeneity through the presence of a group of species with homogeneous catches. A total of 52 specimens, including 24 females and 19 males, were used to estimate the growth parameters of the bug. These parameters are : L∞ = 29.40 cm and K = 0.46 /year. The size-weight relationship shows a minor allometry in B. boops, i.e. the weight grows slower than the cube of length. en_US
