dc.description.abstract Study summary: This study aimed to identify verbal interactive communication and its relationship to self-esteem among a sample of first-year high school students, and we used the descriptive analytical approach because it is considered a study that deals with the facts present at the time of conducting the research and the study tool was prepared in the form of a verbal interaction questionnaire that contained 28 questions. And the Cooper Smith test for self-esteem has 08 items related to the school dimension only. We took our sample in a simple random way and it consisted of 38 male and female students, while 21 males and 17 females represent the first year of secondary education at the secondary school of "Abd al-Baqi bin Zayan Al-Shaai '." Department of Sidi Ali Mostaganem, And from here we used in our study the descriptive and explanatory approach and used two methods: the first method is a verbal interaction questionnaire for Flanders designed by Flanders Hamdan translation, and the second method is a self-esteem test by Cooper Smith translated by Faisal Farahi at the University of Oran, and the following results were reached: - There is no statistically significant correlation between the verbal interactive communication variable and the school self-esteem variable among first-year secondary school students. - There are statistically significant differences in verbal interactive communication according to gender. - There are statistically significant differences in school self-esteem according to gender. • Key words: communication, verbal interaction, self-esteem. en_US
