Excessive use of antibiotics is an important factor that contributes to the emergence of different types of resistant microbes. Consequently, this phenomenon leads to an increase in the severity of diseases caused by these microbes, which requires the search for solutions to this problem.
The objective of this study is to evaluate the antibacterial activity of the methanoic extract of the aerial part of Chamaemelum nobile L, a medicinal plant from the traditional pharmacopoeia of Algeria.
The study investigated the antimicrobial effect of methanoic extract of chamaemelum nobile L collected in the region of Mostaganem against Escherichia coli causing food poisoning. The measurements in triple tests focused on the antibiogram test and the antimicrobial tests of methanolic extracts against E. coli by the direct and indirect contact method, the results show that E. coli is sensitive to gentamycin and the pure methanolic extract of Chamaemelum nobile L exerts a strong inhibitory power on the growth of this germ, the method of diffusion of the discs revealed zones of inhibition which vary from 6 to 15 mm. |
