Comportement de la population de la ville de Mostaganem vis-à-vis de la consommation du lait

Abstract

Milk has been one of the cornerstones of human nutrition for centuries. Milk contains proteins of animal origin, fat, lactose, vitamins and minerals that are necessary for an adequate and balanced diet. The data collected in our work were carried out by the survey method (interview), it targeted a sample of 200 households spread over 4 communes of the wilaya of Mostaganem. Our survey was conducted to determine the modes, frequencies and levels of consumption of milk and also to identify the daily needs of milk and determine the criteria for consumption and non-consumption of milk. The main results show that milk occupies an important place in the diet of the population, given that the study revealed that only 23% of the respondents do not drink milk, mainly because of its bad taste and because of gastrointestinal symptoms. The vast majority of the sample population chose to avoid drinking milk without undergoing the lactose intolerance breath test or consulting a physician. Our study has shown the importance of milk on the table of Mostaganemois households, especially recombined milk in sachet and powder, for the whole population at distinguished levels, this can be explained by many factors, such as, the improvement of the Algerian consumption model, as well as the installation of new processing units, without forgetting the efforts shown by the State through imports in order to make up for the lack of national production and the desire to satisfy the needs of the Algerians in this matter To conclude the data support the need for the mandatory implementation of a nutritional campaign to improve understanding of, for example, the unnecessary avoidance of milk or their excessive consumption.
