dc.description.abstract This study was undertaken to contribute to the search for alternative ways to improve poultry diets. The aim was to evaluate the effect of incorporating different plants at different concentrations in the diets on the meat quality of local hens. The trial was conducted for 2 months on 50 hens and 20 adult cockles divided into four batches. A control batch and three batches for the feed additives (turmeric powder, pomegranate bark and eucalyptus leaf) were each subdivided into three sub-batches of 7 subjects at three different concentrations of the corresponding feed additive. The results obtained indicate lower lipid contents compared to the control value in the thigh for all feed additives except pomegranate at a high concentration. However, the spawn from the animals fed the eucalyptus powder is very high in fat compared to the control subjects. Our statistical results show that the various plant species studied showed very pronounced protective effects compared to the control. The use of turmeric, eucalyptus and pomegranate in the chicken ration may have beneficial effects on carcass characteristics. en_US
