The ability of zinc solubilising bacteria to solubilise zinc is considered one of the
most important traits associated with plant nutrition. These bacteria play an important role
in the supply of zinc to plants. The objective of the present study was to isolate zinc
solubilising bacteria and to identify the presence of traits involved in plant growth
promotion.
In the course of our work, 13 bacterial strains were isolated from the rhizosphere of
courgette, garlic, bean and beetroot from the region of the wilaya of Mostaganem, among
which 11 isolates showed a positive response to Zn solubilisation on Bunt and Rovira
medium modified with Zinc oxide as the only Zn source. They were selected on the basis
of clear halozone and colony diameter, these isolates showed a maximum Zn content
equivalent to303 a ± 6.08 μg/ml in isolate DY8. The isolates were then evaluated for their
plant growth promotion traits such as solubilisation, ability to fix atmospheric nitrogen,
IAA production and HCN acid production. The results show, indeed, that phosphate
solubilisation and IAA production were detected in most of the bacterial isolates. |
