Corona virus disease 2019 is a highly transmissible disease caused by severe acute
respiratory syndrome corona virus 2 which poses a major threat to global public health,
although COVID-19 mainly affects the respiratory system causing severe pneumonia and
the acute respiratory distress syndrome in severe cases leading to critical and lifethreatening
clinical complications. Recently published studies have found cytokine storm
and clotting disorders to be the main serious complicating factors of COVID-19.
In our study, 150 patients with SARS-CoV-2 were admitted to the service of the
Cheguevara hospital (resuscitation and infectious) were divided into two cohorts: 100
patients died against 50 cured, we took into account age, gender and the presence of
comorbidities.
The aim of our work is to study the impact of the fluctuation of clinicobiological
parameters in patients with COVID-19. The results revealed that the presence of
comorbidities and advanced age associated with high levels of biological parameters are
significantly associated with death (P˂0.05) and that men are significantly more affected
by this pandemic compared to women (P ˂0.05).
The entry of the virus into the host cell mainly induces an excessive inflammatory
response in the lungs leading to a cytokine storm responsible for tissue damage and high
levels of biological parameters. |
