This study was devoted to describing the biological and microbiological parameters of the common pandora Pagellus erythrinus, of Mostaganem coast. The common pandora is a very important commercial fish belonging to the sparid family.
Samples were collected during the months of January, February and March 2022.
The sex ratio shows the preponderance of females (58.33%).
The study of the biometrics of the common pandora was carried out by studying 15 metric parameters. The relationship between the total length and fork length reflects a positive allometry (b=1.18), this expresses that the total length increases faster than the fork length. The relationship between weight and total length showed a negative allometry (b = 2.723), this means that the weight of Pagellus erythrinus increases more slowly than its length.
The identification of the prey found in the stomachs of the individuals examined made it possible to better understand the carnivorous behavior of the species.
No presence of pathogenic bacteria Salmonella and E. coli were recorded, while Staphylococci was recorded, but with concentrations that did not exceed the standards, the average of which was 2.72×102 CFU/g. The number of aerobic germs also did not exceed the values specified in the standards, and their average was 14.72×103 CFU/g. While fecal Coliforms were the only group of bacteria that exceeded the standards, and their average was 4.71×102 CFU/g. Therefore, the entire sample was rated as unsatisfactory. |
