The objective of our study is to evaluate the effectiveness of irrigation and spraying with an organic treatment based on extracts of nettle leaves (Urtica dioïca) and sea lettuce (Ulva lactuca) on the development and growth of pepper plants (Capsicum annuum L.). The plants were divided into five blocks, each block treated with a different extract (T1: control, T2: compost, T3: Urtica dioïca, T4: Ulva lactuca, T5: mixture of T3 and T4 extracts). The measured parameters include the number, diameter, and growth rate of stems, fruit weight, and yield quantity for each block. The study was conducted from 20/02/2024 to 28/05/2024. Quantitative results showed that the use of nettle and sea lettuce-based fertilizers resulted in significant improvements in all growth indicators, with the nettle-based fertilizer being particularly effective. It was also demonstrated, that these organic extracts played a role in protecting the plants against diseases and insects, thereby reducing their harmful effects. Based on these results, we can conclude that nettle and sea lettuce extracts are effective stimulants for promoting the growth, development, production, and protection of pepper plants. These findings indicate a great potential for using these organic extracts in agriculture to improve crop productivity and quality. |
