Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by chronic hyperglycemia due to a defect in insulin secretion or its action or both of these associated abnormalities. Chronic hyperglycaemia is associated with long-term Specific organic complications particularly affecting the eyes, kidneys, nerves, heart and vessels. In order to study the metabolic alterations caused by non-insulin-dependent diabetes associated with obesity, we performed a comparative study of serum lipids, glucose, urea and creatine levels in obese type 2 diabetics compared to controls Of the MOSTAGANEM region.
The study included 10 obese type 2 diabetics and 10 controls. Our results show high levels of glucose, urea, creatinine, triglycerides, and total cholesterol in type 2 diabetics compared to controls.
In conclusion, a healthy diet, regular physical activity, maintaining normal weight and stopping smoking prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes. |
