dc.description.abstract |
Among the subservient insects, citrus aphids occupy a very special place because they are considered today among the most important insect pests inducing significant economic loses.
In the Mediterranean, the aphid populations are favored by the climate, which generally allows the maintenance of their activity throughout the year.
In a perspective of looking for new aids that may be used in biological control against these pests. The purpose of this study is to verify the insecticidal effect of extracts of Salvia officinalis (sage), on green aphids, citrus Aphis spiraecola.
To meet this goal, sage leaf extraction was performed to evaluate its toxicity to green aphids. The methanoic extract of sage gave a remarkable insecticidal activity, by adding to batches of control "in vitro" with LD50 = 2.01% and also "in vivo" with LD50 = 2.38, this effect is variable according to the applied dose. |
