dc.description.abstract The abdomen commonly called belly, contains in its enclosure certain organs that can undergo aggressions. These attacks can be transient or lead to surgical procedures. Surgery is a medical procedure that leaves behind sequelae in the body, among other things, an imbalance between protein-energy intake and the need for energy from under nourishment: undernutrition. Malnutrition affects 30 to 50% of hospitalized patients and is an important cause of complications encountered during hospitalization (infection, delays in healing). It is thus responsible for an increase in morbidity and mortality and the average length of hospital stay. But unfortunately it remains neglected in hospitals. Undernutrition must therefore be taken seriously in hospitals. Its prevalence thus passes a clinical-biological evaluation at the arrival of the patients, in other words a screening, by a food follow-up in particular a parenteral or enteral oral nutrition and a strict follow-up of this one. Unfortunately, at the Che Guevara Hospital, as in other developing countries, undernutrition is neglected and prevention is almost non-existent. en_US
