This dissertation examines and analyzes both of the economic and social aspects under the British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher (1979-1990), in the late of twentieth century. This thesis argues that ‘Thatcherism’ was consistent with the values and interests of the
Conservative party. The paper summarizes the main reforms that had been done by Mrs.
Thatcher to repair the British economy and society. At first, it stated Margaret Thatcher
private life and political one. Her leadership lasted eleven years and half that was full of
challenges; she marked an impact on British history. Thatcher formed a strong alliance with Ronald Reagan in order to improve the external relations. Secondly, it involves the economic field at that time, and the reforms that done by Thatcherism administration, and the impact of this reforms, if there is any negative point it left. Thirdly; it includes the Thatcherism social reforms on NHS (National Health and Security) and other life supplies as education and so on. Margaret Thatcher became one of the world’s most influential and respected political leaders. She was the one that with her policies reactivated the British economy and healed a country that was once called the “sick man of Europe”. This paper aimed to work as an open door for further research concerning the life and death of Margaret Thatcher, a woman that changed the lives of thousands of people and, to a large extent, shaped the Great Britain that we know today. |
