Abstract

Algae are a potentially rich source of metabolites. Many algae have bioactive compounds that inhibit the growth of certain pathogenic , Among these metabolites include vitamins, fatty acids, and antioxidants like polyphenols. The objective of this work is the phytochemical study and the evaluation of the antioxidant activity of hydromethanolic extracts, of red algae Corralina officinalis harvested from the rock of the coast of Bosquet Wilaya Mostaganem, the antioxidant activity was carried out using the free radical DPPH, the reduction of Iron. The results indicate a high yield of crude extract (6.5%). Moreover, characterized by a high rate of total polyphenols (118.07 μg EA/mg Extract), and low flavonoids (48.44 μg EQ/mg Extract). The results of this work have allowed us to state that the antioxidant activity of red algae Corralina officinalis is essentially the phenolic compounds.
