Résumé:
Oil refining in the petroleum industries is one of the most important activities
considered to be a source of pollution, due to the gravity of this situation we have decided
to rely on previous studies to shed light on its importance.
The study presented in this work consists in making a comparison of the physicochemical
and biological characteristics of the treated water at the outlet of the « unit 27 »
effluent treatment plant of Arzew refinery with Algerian standards for industrial
discharges.
The main objectives that we have set in this thesis are to carry out a bibliographical
research on wastewater and the origins of pollution, as well as to present the treatment
plant as part of expressing the treatment methodology, then we have mastered analytical
methods based on the chemical and biological characteristics of the pollution in order to
respond to a problem concerning the quality of the water discharged by the station, and
finally to suggest an effective recommendations for the process.
Due to the exceptional situation and view the containment of the covid-19 pandemic,
we could not displace to this station where we did a short internship during our training,
which is why we discussed the results of other works done by other students.
Analyzes of wastewater treated in the refinery revealed that the liquid discharges treated
at unit 27 is conform for the Algerian standards for industrial discharges.
This study has shown us that wastewater treatment also enables compliance with
environmental protection regulations.
