dc.description.abstract This research presents the first study conducted in Algeria to determine the hematological and biochemical parameters before and after a 90Km race in endurance horses, we will find horses eliminated and others who finished the race. This study was carried out on 15 endurance horses (10 Arabian horses, 4 Arabian barbs and 1 Barbe horse). 9 horses completed the endurance race, while the other 6 were eliminated and did not finish the race for various reasons. Blood samples were taken from each horse before and after the end of the race. Whole blood samples were used to measure blood-biochemical parameters. Our results showed for the group who successfully completed the race a significant increase in hematological parameters (RBC, Hb, Ht and MCV) total leukocyte count, neutrophils and platelets, lymphocytes and eosinophyls showed a significant decrease while that serum biochemical parameters showed a significant increase in Ca, triglyceride, urea, uric acid, AST and CK and a decrease in Mg, chol, glucetGgt. The study showed that for the horses eliminated, there were significant changes in the values of the total white blood cell count, lymphocytes, neutrophils, Hb and Ht per intake in performing horses. Serum biochemical parameters showed a significant increase in triglycerides, U-A, AST and CK, and a significant decrease in Ca, Mg, CHOL and Ggt. The two groups (GP and PP) before the race showed a significant difference for most of the blood-biochemical parameters thus, additional studies had been necessary in order to highlight any parameters revealing the ability of a horse to finish a race. en_US
