Improving the speaking skill is a challenging task for both teachers and the students, especially for EEL learners due to the lack of practising the English language daily.
Nevertheless, the widespread of social media in our lives led to integrate it in the educational context as a useful tool to communicate anytime and everywhere out of classrooms. This research aims to investigate the impact of Messenger group discussions on the students’ speaking skill, the prospects of it to involve the introvert learners in the discussions and enhance their pronunciation. The investigation has been conducted in Abdel Hamid Ibn Badis University of Mostaganem, using two questionnaires, the first questionnaire was directed the first-year English students who participate in the experiment of the messenger group, and the second questionnaire was directed to master students in the department of English. The results show that the messenger group was not effective for the students to promote their speaking skill. Eventually, realize the effectiveness of the messenger group discussions in enhancing the speaking skill this study aims at proposing some suggestions and recommendations for the students and teachers on how to make messenger an effective to improve the speaking skill.
