Résumé:
At present, teaching French at the Algerian university is the subject of debates and didactic thoughts in colloquies and seminars. The linguistic formation of the French language and the competence related to the writing skill is the back-bone of my research. At first, focusing on its teaching in the different cycles, the status of the French language in Algeria was shown. As for the second part, it was devoted to the empirical study in which the competences of the first year university students of French were partially identified, surrounding objectively their linguistic needs. The study essentially aimed at the competences related to writing. To realize the task, an analysis of needs was done through a questionnaire given to the students concerned. Then, their written expressions were confronted with the descriptors of the Common European framework of reference for languages. Once the analysis had been achieved, a referential of competences was proposed so as to take into considerations the students’ linguistic needs.
