Résumé:
Medicinal herbs are an important source of natural bioactive molecules. They have various biological properties and they have always been used by traditional healers in the therapeutic field for various pathologies for their contents of a wide variety of bioactive substances. In Algeria, we are trying to better understand the heritage of these spontaneous species used in traditional medicine as well as their active ingredients. In this context, a phytochemical study and antioxidant analysis of the aqueous extracts of two parts of southern Algeria species (El-Bayad) belonging to the Asteraceae family are conducted: It is Asteriscus graveolens.
The phytochemical study to demonstrate the colorimetric dosage of total polyphenols (by the Folin-Ciocalteu method) and to evaluate the antioxidant activity in vitro by the test anti-free radical action towards the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl free radical.
The quantitative assay shows the present of different contents between branches and leaves with the quantity of 30.114 ± 1.1 and 152.455 ± 0.22 mg EAG / g of dry matter respectively. The extracts showed a strong antioxidant power by the DPPH test with values of CI50 of 9.43 ± 0.01 and 59.6 ± 0.01 μg / mL in aqueous extracts of branches and leaves respectively.
This species is, therefore, a source of natural antioxidants. Powerful antioxidant activity recorded in both parties could be linked to their high levels of compounds phenolic.
