The objective of this study was to test the insecticidal effect of Mentha pulegium. L essential oil on the black bean aphid Aphis fabae. To achieve this objective, a steam extraction of Mentha pulegium. L leaves was performed. In order to evaluate the toxicity of the essential oil of the plant on the studied insect, two tests were carried out: contact and repellent. A very interesting yield of the oil was obtained from the plant estimated at 5.2%. The results obtained from the two tests show that the essential oil of Mentha pulegium. L shows a remarkable insecticidal activity against the black bean aphid. Total mortality was recorded for the 1 μl/ml dose after two hours of treatment for both tests compared to the control, with an estimated LD50 of 0.7μl/ml.
