Résumé:
Atriplex halimus is a medicinal plant; it is a typical representative of the
Chenopodiaceae family, commonly called (Guettaf), it is wide spread throughout the
Mediterranean basin and spontaneous in arid and semiarid regions in Algeria.
In order to valorize the Atriplex halimus (El-Guettaf) collected from Mostaganem
(Algeria), an Ethnobotanical investigation, has been made.
This study was made using questionnaires in the wilaya of Mostaganem, in order to
collect the maximum of information about the use of Guettaf. The investigation revealed that
the Atriplex halimus is commonly used in therapy mainly for the treatment of different types
of cysts (37.5%). The foliage is the most used part (93%) as a decoction (65%) and is used on
a daily basis (97%).
