Résumé:
Forests are not limited to being a vast green cover, but they have an economic, industrial, and even
recreational significance as well. They also prevent soil degradation and erosion, protect water
springs, maintain the stability of mountains, and contribute to protecting animals from extinction,
as the forest is considered a natural reserve and an important source of minerals and raw materials.
Forests throughout the ages played a huge cultural and historical role as they were home to the
human element since ancient times, and despite the importance of forests, reports still indicate the
continuous deterioration in this vast area, through the fires that this green area is exposed to all
over the world, so We decided to study this problem, and it is the subject of our research, in which
we tried to measure the impact of some variables on forest fires in Algeria during the period
1990-2021. In it, we dealt with a theoretical aspect of forests, their types, and the causes of fires.
We even touched on some statistics related to the forest area in Algeria and the extent of the
damage that this area was exposed to as a result of this phenomenon. The number of fires during
the study period, and we discovered that the number of fires in recent years witnessed a
continuous and noticeable decrease, and this is due to the application of laws and the strictness of
the state apparatus with regard to the protection of forest property and the interest in this aspect by
the state and the awareness of citizens of the importance of this vital resource .
