Résumé:
Water is of the highest importance in life and its use requires the respect of quality standards. In recent years, the percentage of nitrite in water has increased, and in some areas it has exceeded the permitted standard of 0.5 mg/l, and this is the result of industrial waste and increased agriculture or human activity in general. Agriculture is the main source of water nitrite pollution due to the use of fertilizers to improve production, it is necessary to find a way to treat water contamination by nitrites.
This study aims to eliminate nitrites in raw water by adsorption process using commercial activated charcoal powder (CAP).We studied the effect of several factors on the adsorption process in order to optimize the adsorption factors; such as pH, initial nitrite concentration, mass of adsorbent used and agitation time. The results obtained showed a remarkable effect on the adsorption capacity of each adsorbent.
