Résumé:
In order to contribute to a better knowledge of the steppe areas of the Saida wilaya, for a greater awareness of the complexity of rural development and the current state of degradation that this fragile region has experience in recent decades, reconsidered did both time and useful to carry out this study.
The main objective is the determination of the current productivity of steppe rangelands in the municipality of Skhouna. To achieve this objective, we calculated the above-ground biomass in the formations dominated by Alfa (stipa tenacissima) and Sparta (Lyguem spartum) of the region.
The calculation of the biomass was based on the transect and phytoecological surveys over 100 m in the direction of the greatest variability of the vegetation. The results obtained show that the above-ground biomass varies from one zone to another. This means that there is a great heterogeneity in the spatial distribution of vegetation cover and the environment is in a state of advanced degradation. This degradation is due to a set of anthropogenic and climatic factors.
Faced with the alarming diagnosis of the situation in the steppe areas of the Saida wilaya, an integrated development policy was needed and focused on intervention programs aimed at the restoration and rehabilitation of steppe rangelands in this region.
