The present study is carried out with the objective of comparing the levels of
tolerance to salinity of the species Atriplex halimus during germination. Thus, four
doses of soluble salts were used: 5, 10 and 15 g/l and 20 g/L. Germination is evaluated
by the percentage of seed germination and the velocity coefficient during a period of
20 days.
Preliminary results show that germination is completely inhibited at 20 g/l
regardless of the salt treatment applied (CaCl2, NaCl, KCl and Na2SO4). Germination
is maximum in distilled water and decreases with increasing concentration of salts in
the medium.
Increasing salt concentration delays germination and decreases germination rate.
The response of seeds to salt stress varies over time with the concentration of soluble
salts.
Water stress did not mark germination significantly regardless of the PEG 1000
concentration (100,150 and 200 g/L), however there is a decrease in the germination
rate at a high concentration (200 g/L) of PEG 1000. |
