Aquaponics is an agricultural production technique that combines aquaculture breeding with
hydroponic cultivation and which reduces environmental impact by reducing the need for
water and nutrients. Aquaponic production is still not widespread because the technique is
still new and not very optimized.
This end-of-study project consists of creating an automated mini aquaponic greenhouse. The
main objective of our project is to create a favorable environment both for fish breeding and
for the cultivation of different plants such as salads, tomatoes, parsley, etc.In this end-of-study
project, we will test this mini greenhouse using TILAPIA type fish and tomato cultivation.
The emphasis will be placed on the behavior of fish and the evolution of crops under the
control of an automated system for permanent collection of data such as: pH, temperature,
nitrate content and hardness. Its data informs us about water quality. They are then recorded
regularly on a memory card. Regulation and readjustment of data are automatically carried
out if the admissible thresholds are exceeded.
A system for regulation, data collection and data processing has been created, the main core
of which is the Arduino microcontroller.
There are many benefits to automating these critical parameters in the aquaponic greenhouse.
First, it allows for continuous and accurate monitoring, eliminating the need for frequent
manual monitoring. This significantly reduces the time and effort required to maintain ideal
conditions for plants and fish. |
