Résumé:
Our study conducted at the University Hospital of Mostaganem in March 2023 showed that
the population of patients suffering from chronic diseases is not equitably distributed
between men and women. Men made up 45% while women made up 55%. However, with
regard to the distribution of age groups among our sample of population suffering from
chronic diseases at the Hospital Center of Mostaganem, the majority of our patients were
aged between 50 and 70 years, representing 58.33% of cases. The results revealed that the
most frequent chronic diseases at the Mostaganem Hospital Center are arterial
hypertension 19.39%, diabetes 26.53%, osteoarthritis 30.61% chronic renal failure 14.29%
and cerebrovascular accidents 9.18%. Among the 60 patients questioned, more than 56%
had comorbidities. Our study also examined the acceptability of home blood sampling in
the Mostaganem region. Our survey, which consisted of interviewing members of the local
population, showed that all patients (100%) had a favorable opinion. This could be
explained by the benefits of this approach, including reducing travel costs and avoiding the
inconvenience of hospital registration.
