Résumé:
This study is based on the relation between public space and Algerian
newspapers, exploring in a scientific manner the public space opened by the
media, including the written press. In particular the electronic version that
allows readers to interact and participate making up the public opinion. The
interaction resulting from the technological developments that enabled the
construction of an online ground , which allows the participation of readers in
debates by expressing their opinion as if they were in public. In that, we turned
to look for this relation in one of the Algerian newspapers. We chose “Al
Khabar” on the basis that this newspaper was a pioneer in the media scene in
Algeria, after its opening in the nineties of the last century, which has
maintained its leading place since its emergence. It is also one of the first
newspapers to have established an Internet website and has provided an
opportunity of interaction with its media branches. Among the most read and
interactive articles is a point-by-point column by Saed Bouakba.
From this point of view, we discussed the characteristics of this public space in
the electronic environment, which has become called virtual space, in line with
the nature of this new environment. In our descriptive study, we focused on
four bets that determine the characteristics of these interactions, and therefore
the advantages of this virtual space, relying on the content analysis technique
that focused on analyzing the content of readers' reactions to comments and
feedback that enrich the discussion on any given subject.
In this study, we found that the readers of a point-of-order column are free to
express their opinion when interacting with any topic of public interest. Most of
them attach real names to their interactions and rely on real identities, because
of the seriousness of their interactions and their trust in “ Al-Khabar” website.
The Arabic language is preeminent in published comments, due to participants
educational level that qualifies them to be up to the required interactive level
Through including their concerns on al khabar’s website, they have thus
contributed in making up a public opinion on issues of the current living world.
In the midst of discussions among readers, or with the journalist, commentators
show a high level of discussion ethic that they commit to during their constant
interactions with a point of order column
