dc.description.abstract | Plant extracts are considered as an alternative therapy against microbial infections. The bacterium P. aeruginosa is a multiresistant opportunistic pathogen in its planktonic and biofilm forms. In the present study methanol extract and two fractions of ethyl acetate and butanol extracts prepared from leaves of Prunus persica were tested against three Pseudomonas aeruginosa clinical isolates and reference strain (P . aeruginosa ATCC 27853). The results show an antibacterial activity against the strains tested by the flavonoid extract extracted by butanol compared with the other two extracts. A remarkable inhibitory activity was recorded. A MIC was a around 12.5mg / ml and an MBC at a concentration of 25mg / ml. The antibiofilm effect of butanol extract tested by the crystal violet method was negative on the all four strains of P. aeruginosa. | en_US |
