Faced with the inequitable distribution of drinking water on the planet and the effects
of rising temperatures and the consequences of global warming in the form of drought and
water shortages, demand for seawater desalination has increased in recent years. Due to
demographic development and the concentration of the population in the same area where
human activity is increasing, Algeria has experienced a period of severe and persistent
drought in recent years, characterised by a significant rainfall deficit throughout the country.
This problem prompted us to carry out a study on seawater desalination, using the
Ténès and Mostaganem seawater desalination plant as an example.
This study focuses on the seawater desalination process by studying distillation and reverse
osmosis, taking into account the impact on environmental safety, and considering better
solutions with new cost-effective seawater desalination solutions needed to mitigate this
phenomenon. |
