Résumé:
In spite of being a relatively recent term, emotional intelligence has gained a significant
importance in recent times due to its role in leading a person’s life to be more successful. The present research work explores the main deficiencies in the curriculum of basic education regarding the enhancement of emotional intelligence, it centres specifically on the use of this concept in primary schools in Algeria. The research design involved the administration of a questionnaire to primary school teachers and the implementation of observation activities for learners consisting of: Problem-solving, Critical thinking and Decision-making activities.
Ultimately, the validation of both hypotheses confirms that the current curriculum lacks
opportunities for students to apply emotional intelligence skills, while also highlights the
positive correlation between emotional intelligence and academic achievement.
