The sea is an essential element of our planet, hosting a great diversity of
life and playing a vital role in natural balances. It represents not only a
valuable resource for humans — in terms of fishing, transport, and tourism
— but also a place for relaxation and discovery. However, growing human
activities exert significant pressure on marine environments, affecting their
quality and biodiversity. Therefore, it is important to regularly study the
state of seawater, particularly in bathing areas, to ensure the safety of users
and protect the environment.
Our study was conducted on Salamander Beach over a period of three
months to assess the quality of seawater for bathing. The analyses focused
on physio-chemical parameters (temperature, pH, suspended matter,
dissolved oxygen, conductivity, and salinity).
The results show that the water quality was generally satisfactory in March,
with low levels of pollution. In April, a slight deterioration was observed,
likely linked to increased human activity (tourism, urban discharges). In
May, the quality further degraded, marked by an increase in fecal bacteria
and turbidity, which may pose health risks for bathers.
This study highlights the importance of regular monitoring, especially as
the summer season approaches, to prevent health risks and protect the
coastal environment. |
