dc.description.abstract Tomato is one of the most widespread crops around the world. It is an important source of vitamins as well as an important cash crop for smallholders and commercial farmers who have average farm. Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum) has become one of the most important vegetables in the world. The tomato plant is not a liana that wraps itself around a support. To support the plant and maintain it in a vertical position, it is necessary to intervene to wind the stem around a guardian. The objective of this experiment is to make a comparison of yield and quality in the production of tomato, using two different techniques of trellising, namely that by string and by staking (by reeds). The experiment took place at the Sbaï farm in Stidia which is located in the Mostaganem coastline. The latter contains 12 greenhouses (50x8 = 400m 2) organized in 8 ridges each. The trellising techniques adopted in our experiment are; that of vertical trellising (with string), and the other horizontal (with reed). For the first, we used two qualities of plastic string and raffia, for the second, we installed a staking system with the use of wooden sticks as support for reeds and wood. The results obtained show that the height of the first floral bouquet and also the average number of fruits for the two staking lines are high compared to the lines traced with strings on the other hand that the average weight and the size of the fruits and also the speed growth of plants for trellising lines with the twine giving better results compared to those stakes. It is concluded that the twine tying technique has a stimulating effect on the tomato crop, giving better results in terms of growth rate, size and average fruit weight. en_US
