Résumé:
Supranol 4 GL yellow and Nylosan F3 GL red are synthetic dyes widely used in the algerian textil industries and their
effluents may cause serious problems which have to be taken into account. Classical treatment processes are not
efficient and their toxicity in waste waters, frequently useded by farmers, may result in serious health problems.
Our work deals with the oxidizing reactive species OH°, O2H°, H2O2, O3 O, generated by plasma in humid air of the
gliding arc type in a closed reactor in order to degrade these two dyes. The liquid effluent of an Algerian texile industry
using these two suubstances has been submitted to the same treatment. The parameters of the plasma setup such as the
water saturated air flow, the inter electrodes distance, and the distance between the electrodes and the target have been
optimised. Results obtained using UV/VIS spectroscopy and the chemical demand in oxygen (C.D.O) have shown a
92.5% degradation for supranol 4 GL yellow and 52.4% for Nylosan F3 GL red. The effluent has been degraded up to
70% for high concentrations while for more diluted effluent, we have reached 90%.
The degradation rate constants have been calculated for the three treated samples. The values obtained are 2.10-2 min-1
for the Supranol 4GL yellow, 3.10-2 min-1 for Nylosan F3 GL red and 8.7.10-2 min-1 for the effluent respectively.
