The main objective of this study is to valorize the adsorptive properties of the clay extracted from the M'Zila deposit (Mostaganem) mainly intended for the treatment of water polluted by organic compounds, especially pesticides. The natural clay became sodic then modified by replacing the inorganic cation (Na +) with an organic cationic surfactant (hexadecyltrimethylammonium). The clay obtained is called organophilic.
The X-ray diffraction characterization study confirmed the intercalation of HDTMA cations in the inter-lamellar space of sodic clay.
The study of pesticide binding parameters: pentachlorophenol by organophilic clay has shown that this material could be an interesting support for the trapping of pentachlorophenol. The treatment of solutions containing from 20 to 320 μmol / l gave promising results. The removal capacity is about 9.60 g / 100 g of organophilic clay. |
