Résumé:
This paper seeks to examine the use of unreliability in postmodern literature in particular
with reference to Lionel Shriver’s novel We Need to Talk about Kevin which won the orange prize in 2011 for fictional work. The first part of this dissertation represents an introduction of postmodern literature along with the emergence and the use of unreliable narrator’s in postmodern work. The second part examines the use of unreliability in Lionel
Shriver’s novel which has been interpreted differently by readers because of the ambiguous narration by the narrator. The attempt of this dissertation is to explore the function of the unreliable narrator in Shriver’s novel.
