Résumé:
As part of the valuation of the marine algal biomass of the Algerian coasts, we are are interested in this work in the study of the evaluation of the antioxidant activity and the biochemical composition of crude extracts of a fraction of some West Coast algae Algerian (Green algae: Ulva lactuca, E. compressa, Brown algae: Sargassum vulgare, Cystoseira stricta, C. compressa and Red algae: C. elongata, Coralline officinale). The objective of this work was to quantify the levels of phenolic compounds and flavonoids different raw extracts obtained from seaweed harvested from the coast of Mostaganem, but following major constraint of the Covid-19 pandemic, we were forced to make a syntheses of various works already done on our theme at the level of the West coast Algerian (Mermoul K et al. 2018, Oucif. H, 2019, Benyekkou A and al. 2019, Berrabah. Y and al., 2018, Chibani. F et al, 2018), we have summarized the different methods used to the evaluation of the anti-free radical activity of the crude aqueous, methanolic and chlorformic acid of the various algae taken into consideration, as well as the study of their biochemical composition.
The evaluation of the total anti-free radical capacity revealed the presence of antioxidant properties at different levels for all the extracts studied. This antioxidant power is due to the presence of polyphenols and flavonoids in the different species taken into account consideration, which prompts the in vivo study of the effect of extracts of these algae on stress oxidative. Determination of the biochemical composition (moisture, ash, proteins and lipids) found that these species are an excellent source of minerals, proteins, and alternative antioxidants.
