Résumé:
Most dams are subject to a loss of capacity due essentially to three phenomena, namely: water leaks, siltation of reservoirs and intense evaporation. The study of these phenomena is of great importance, because they can endanger the stability of the dam and reduce its useful capacity. This is particularly the case for the Gargar, Ain Kahla, Bouhanifia and Foum El Gherza dams. Located in arid areas where water resources are becoming increasingly scarce. To this end, we saw it useful to present in this study the balance sheet of the total water losses from these dams. We estimated the interannual average volume losses for the Gargar dam of 119.014 (hm3), for the dam of Bouhanifia 45.45 (hm3), For the Ouizert dam 20.28 (hm3) and finally for the Foum El Gherza dam 39 (hm3). These estimates clearly show that dams located in arid and semi-arid zones suffer colossal water losses due to the three hydraulic problems.
