Abstract:
The toxicity of Cystoseira stricta drills has been estimated to Brine Shrimp (Artemia salina), DL50 lethality tests are widely used in applied research and toxicology. This study examines the eco-toxicological evaluation of the contamination of brown algae in the western Algerian Mediterranean coastline at the Sidi Ladjal beach in the Khadra commune, Wilaya Mostaganem. Cytotoxicity tests are often tedious and costly and there is a lack of a simple and rapid screening procedure for this our study looked at tests of extraction of algal extracts on the behavior of Artemia salina.
Responses to cytotoxicity tests on crude algal extracts by solvents using a standardized method of Brine Shrimp, based on different concentrations. The DL50 values of the different extracts are obtained by different linear expressions. In this case, aseptic techniques are not necessary, and there for Artemia salina could replace the ethical and difficult MTT assay that requires animal serum, due to the speed, convenience and low cost of Artemia, we decided to assess the ecological quality of the marine environment.
