Résumé:
Equine reproduction requires a great deal of rigor in the management of the mare in order to fulfill the
objective of obtaining a foal per year and at the earliest in the year. It is therefore essential to control a
maximum of factors influencing fertility.
The veterinarian must be able to perform gynecological monitoring at each key moment during the
reproductive life of the mare in order to detect the conditions that can alter reproductive performance and treat
quickly, to know the optimal time to inseminate the mare, then to diagnose pregnancy and to monitor its
progress.
The veterinarian must also be able to advise the breeder as much as possible on the management of
the mare with regard to its diet and environment, to optimize the mare's fertility, to bring it in good health for
reproduction and to maintain its gestation.
