In the area of gender and language, many researches have been concerned with examining the role of discourse in producing dominant ideologies and the distinction of power relation in discourse. The Walt Disney movies are one of the biggest media movie makers which play a great role in reflecting social issues such as gender roles, norms and values. This study is concerned with gender portrayal analysis in the recent Disney film “Frozen”, by applying the lexicogrammatical category of transitivity which is part of the English linguist Mark Halliday’s (1985, 1994) systemic-functional grammar. The transitivity system is used as data collecting method. The results show that the traditional gender stereotypes are still being portrayed in the movie while others are concealed.en_US
