Abstract
In this paper, we propose a dynamic channelassignment algorithm which minimizes the total interferences
between Access Points (APs) of a Wireless Local Area Network
(WLAN), while maintaining the Signal to Interferences Ratio
(SIR) bigger than a certain threshold for all users. The
algorithm initializes the channel assignment at the APs, and
calculates the SIR for each user using Integer Linear
Programming “ILP” for an open area and for an area with
obstacles (walls). The proposed algorithm shows results with
significant enhancement of the SIR over WLANs, and
therefore an improvement of the throughput. The algorithm
can be applied to any WLAN, irrespective of the user
distribution and user load.
