The present work investigates intercultural competence (IC) teaching in the EFL classroom in some secondary schools in Mostaganem (Algeria). It is a study that explores teachers’ perceptions of the concepts of culture and IC, their beliefs about the objectives of the intercultural approach as well as their current classroom practices of IC teaching. The insights into teacher cognition and teaching practices can help to better accommodate teachers’ professional development needs in order for students to develop their IC more effectively and grow as intercultural speakers (IS).en_US
