Abstract

In this work, we are interested water resources polluted by chemicals which can cause various health problems .A For example, phenols are an important source of pollution, and are essentially the result of industrial waste such as plastics, polymers, insecticides, etc. Our work presents a double environmental aspect, firstly under a valuation of natural product in this case the sawdust, and secondly, the study of the adsorption efficiency of activated carbon from wood sawdust. Experimental results showed that the activated found to be very effective in wastewater treatment. Adsorption data were well described by the Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin .Iodine number determination indicated high microporosity, accounting for the high surface area of the prepared adsorbents. The high adsorption capacity for phenols removal exhibited by the chemically modified wood sawdust show that the latter could prove very useful in industrial water depollution.
