dc.description.abstractLike any concrete structure, casing bridges experiencing significant damage that can affect the life of the structure. To address these shortcomings, researchers have ceased trying to find solutions for the maintenance and repair of these structures. Among the areas in which they are interested, the development of concrete material to make it more efficient and effective. An alternative proposed is the incorporation of fibers in concrete. The fiber reinforced concrete is hardly equivalent of reinforced or prestressed concrete, but it is simply a new material that has its own properties and mechanical behavior of its own. Besides the concrete bundles have been several studies and still do. In this case we have made use of concrete steel fiber as a reinforcing material for bridge decks boxes to withstand the stresses of shear and also to increase more or at least improve the bearing capacity of the deck. To identify and understand, it took determine the geometrical and mechanical characteristics of metal fiber and an analysis of box girder deck, also consider the orientation of metal fibers is a factor, try to define a law distribution and of course determine the mechanical contribution of metal fibers on the different stresses (shear, fatigue, speed, ..). The conclusion made that the steel fibers play an important role on the seam of micro and macro cracks and also a role in increasing sustainability but not in the bearing capacity, something for which research has tried to find alternatives such as the use of carbon fiber.en_US
