dc.description.abstract The expected goal of this experimental study is to monitor the antimicrobial effect of the aqueous extract of Salvadora Persica in Candida albicans and Staphylococcus aureus responsible for oral infections. The Miswak was harvested from the Arak region in Ain Salah-Algeria. The aqueous extract was obtained by macerating one intake of the plant in water, followed by filtration. The extract was concentrated in 0, 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100% distilled water. The antimicrobial effect of the aqueous extract of Miswak has been tested on two microorganisms: Candida albicans and Staphylococcus aureus. The measurements concerned: the growth test, the disk diffusion test, the minimum inhibitory concentration, the minimum bactericidal concentration and the minimum fungicidal concentration. The aqueous extract of Salvadora Persica showed bactericidal and fungicidal effects on the two microorganisms studied; Candida albicans and Staphylococcus aureus. The minimum inhibitory concentrations were recorded at 60% extract from Candida albicans and 80% extract from Miswak from Staphylococcus aureus. The minimum fungicidal concentration in Candida albicans was obtained at 60% Miswak extract; whereas the minimum bactericidal concentration was observed in Staphylococcus aureus at a concentration of 80% extract. en_US
